Passionate about bringing you stories that matter.
About
Ben has never been afraid to get up in front of a microphone. In fact, he has always known that he was destined to be behind one. Most of his early inspiration came from watching the 6 o’clock news with his Mom, starting at a young age. Seeing the professionals on air, and how passionate they were about telling stories that matter, instilled a desire in Ben to follow a path to become a storyteller.
In High School, Ben ran a successful lunch hour intramural program where he did play-by-play, commentating as well as updating stats and standings, and was awarded a district scholarship for his contributions in community service.
After graduating from Prince of Wales Secondary school in 2018, he then began working towards an undergraduate degree in communications at Langara College (2018-2019) and Simon Fraser University (2020-2022). He entered the broadcast journalism program at BCIT in September 2022. In September of 2023, Ben interned at CityNews 1130 where he discovered a true passion for news, and began to challenge himself to pursue the top stories of the day, even when back at school.
Ben interned at CBC Vancouver at the beginning of 2024, where he worked in the role of story producer for the CBC Radio One afternoon show, On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko.
Ben considers himself a bit of a sci-fi nerd who loves anything Star Trek, as well as The X-Files. He is also a musician who plays both the piano and violin, and has also sung in a choir.
Ben is also a huge hockey fan, faithful to his hometown Vancouver Canucks.
